Brief History of Temple:

We, The Sourashtra Community settled in Chennai more than two hundred years before, particularly in the heart of the city Choolai area. Sourashtrapeople generally peaceful ,obedient and spiritual based community,with much faith on God. Wherever they live nearby, they construct a Temple and devote their good time for God. Same happened in Chennai living community also and they decided to construct a temple in their living area asearlyas 1909.

The prominent" VIDIN" brothers Srimans : A. Krishna Ayer& A.kuppaiyer family and their seven sons decided to donate a piece of land (2409 soft)on 30 th Jan 1910 for constructing a Perumal Temple

The temple attracted many devotees of Choolai area.

The peace of land was converted into temple By Shri K.M .S.R. Kuppusamy Iyer with the helping hands of our people.. The first Samprokshanam presided by Shri KMSL Lakshmana Iyer , was held on 7th June 1945 in a grand manner.Vaithiyam Seetaraman Iyer and Malli Mahadeva Iyer served the temple with great interest and pleasure for many years .All Poojas and festivals were celebrated in a grand manner.

To maintain better administration Our Sourashtra Community Leaders, created a newly registered body under Societies Act, namely Sourashtra Dharma Pari Balana Seva Sangam to look after temple day to day affairs.

Sri Neelamegam Padamanabhaiyer and Sri S.R.Ramamoorthy( Idhan) had served the temple with utmost care and devotion.

A big gap happened due tothe demises of the community main Leaders.At the time of second world war utmost care had been taken byShri. Kutti .V. Jothi presided the temple nearly for 20 long years.!During this period the temple was maintained by performing regular pujas by Shri, Sharma Iyer devoted for temple along with K.V.Jothi.....
